Default Sport shocks - drop range??

Hey my stock shocks are blown to hell from driving with my car slammed. I know that shocks are designed to only work within a certain range and i was wondering how low can you go on a set of tokico blues or bilstein sports or koni yellows, etc... and still have the shocks working the way they're supposed to? I have some ground control coilovers rite now and they're set all the way down so i think that'd be a 3.5 drop. Can i still have my car lowered like this and expect a set of sport shocks to work properly???? thanks for the help =D
