well, the original maker of the spoon wheels are the same price as the spoons..so its not just the name...the're forged but they use a special kinda of forging, they call it "true forging"...
So this BS bout magnesium is fake? I've heard it from a friend and also from Super Street (lol ok call me a magazine racer! jk) I guess you can't believe everything you see...

I believe Volk racing is one of the few manufactures that released a Magnesium wheel.. ohh and I believe OZ did..there are other manufactures that make magnesium ones.. but OZ and Volk racing offer them.. Volk offer a TE-37 wheel in mag.. and OZ I believe made a mag wheel for the Mclaren F1 Street car I believe..

there is absolutely no reason to seek out a magnesium wheel. at the time the technology to use forging with aluminum wasn't available, so the only solution for lightweight wheel material was magnesium. it is inferiour to forged aluminum, oxidyzes rapidly and is prone to cracking.
stick with either a forged wheel or a spun forged wheel made my SSR.

I read somehwere that Spoon's SW388 rims are made of some type of plastic material. Sounds funny but manufacturers can actually make Plastic tougher than steel, just think if it as Carbon fiber being stronger and lighter than steel. Anyway Rega Master's EVO rims are the other company that share this design.
Rims are forged aluminum. Desmond Evo has them manufactured at a forging facility in Russia - I am sure its a converted arms factory - hell, gotta find something to make if you aren't making arms anymore. They are marketed under the Regamaster Evo, Spoon Sports SW388 and Monster Sports product lines. Ultimately, except for color variations, they are the same from model to model. For the street, forged aluminum is the way to go as someone stated above, magnesium is light but not as durable. Stress fractures are also a problem.
The TE37 MAG Rays produces run $1250....EACH.
Dont believe everything you might read in Stupid Street.

since it doesn't come in a spoon box.
I hear Spoon wheels are crushed/recycled Pontiac rims.
they're made from crushed smirnoff bottles

j/k, for real tho...i thought it was recycled spoons???????!! have i been ripped off?
yup, you got ripped off.
follow this:
spoon wheels are real "jdm"
spoon wheels are made from spoons?
spoons are not "jdm", chopsticks are.
so if you want a recycled wheel the jdm ones are made from chopsticks, the usdm ones would be from spoons and the you don't wanna know what the EDM guys run (ethiopian)
