spinoff of head gasket question
i started blowing white smoke out of my exhaust this weekend and when i stop and rev it water shoots out of the exhaust pipe and was thinking it was a head gasket it. so i compression tested it, it was about 205-200 all cylinders (no leak down yet )but there is water in my oil and in my exhaust then i thought about a cracked cylinder but would that still show good compression if that was the case? or would a head gasket be a good decision, because if my clyinder was cracked wouldnt i have a rod knocking and have my knock sensor going crazy and throwing codes?I have never cracked a cylinder wall if i did does it make a really loud knock or could it be just a ping for now i have only had the car for a week and only drove it 6 or 7 times. i hope it is my head gasket. it has a little click but it doesnt sound like a knocking sound sounds more like a valve lash issue the kid i bought the car from ran 150 shot nos on it and at high rpms he didnt know his head from his *** though but sorry about all the questions anyways i am just reaching here i am praying because i dont want to resleave it.... any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance
thanks for the info but is there any way that if i blew my headgasket i could get good compression. that just blows my mind because if i ever blew a head gasket my comp was allways low. sorry i am just puzzled on why. i figured it was head gasket especially with no rod knocking ill change it today and see but thanks for the help
You can have a blown headgasket and still have good compression..
You will also NOT notice cylinder leakdown using a compression tester..
Compression tester will determine compression.. not leaks..
