Default speedometer doesnt work...

okay i just built my motor and put it in...the speedometer doesnt work, and if i drive for a while the CEL comes on, and of course it's code 17...i've been searching and found that there's speedo cables, but are these cables just for '91 and older cars? cuz i have a '94 civic ex, and i'm pretty sure the vss is electronic...just making sure that the 5th gens dont have speedo cables.

on the back of the tranny there is a sensor you either broke it or it's not plugged in

check and see if the vss has good contact points, sometimes moisture or water gets in there

well...i never ran the wires straight to the ecu, and just took a chance on cutting the plug off and soldering in the new plug...and guess what? it works now...i just matched up the colors of the wires and "voila"...it worked...i guess my old plug was pretty rusted up.
