spark plug wear
I had my car serviced at 60K by a Honda/former Acura dealer. They billed me for new NKG plugs. That was 7000 miles ago. I just looked at my plugs and the are Nippon Denso plugs that look quite used. I complained to the dealer saying I thought they never changed them out but billed me anyway. The service guy got all defensive with me. I was quite pissed. I looked at them again to make sure I wasn't accusing them wrongly. they sure look used compared to my new NGK platinums i picked up. I don't have a new set of Densos to compare to. There is quite a bit of brown discoloration at the junction of the enamel and threads and the center electrode is burned flat (the NGK has a center spindle-like electrode). Can anyone help verify if these are old (perhaps the original) plugs?? Perhaps someone has a photo of a used Denso>????

well they are cone shaped center electrodes (beveled cylinders with a flattened top). the NGK have a definite center portion that is a thinner cylinder that sticks up.
i wish i could see a set with similar mileage so i don't send these back with a nasty note attached demanding a refund.

i got charged $74 for those plugs. They said they would be NGK and I have Densos. they are the stock plugs for the GSR. I am just wondering if they are the original plugs and have 60K miles on them~!!

Well, four NGK platinum plugs even at the best prices are close to that. The 60K service which I had the dealer do (I did it mostly to protect my 5 yr warranty) was to do it as part of the service. What was put in there (and I argue that they just left in my old plugs) was Denso platinum plugs which I can't imagine cost as much as NGK.
