Spark plug rethreading?
Seems like my #4 cyl has a horrible leak. No compression and leakdown is awful. I can hear air coming out the spark plug hole, hopefully thats the only place its escaping.
Anyone done a rethread with a kit? Any recommendations?

It can be done at home, but I'd pull it off and take it to a machine shop and make sure it is done right. It needs a helicoil and that can't be done on the engine without some junk falling into the cylinder.
yeah realized it was my tool that had a leak not the thread. either way, timesert is the better method over helicoil i found out. and theres a way to do it on the car.
I agree, TimeSerts are nice. It can be done on the car but there is a risk of getting metal in the cylinder which can do damage. You can load the tap with grease to contain the chips, but the reason I recommend taking the head off and letting a machine shop do it is because I've had to repair things people have done in their back yard without the proper tools and know-how, and while you probably have the facilities to do it, a lot of people reading this forum probably don't.
