Something in the oil pump binding... Help!?!
The block has the crank installed, all bearings to spec...spins amazingly free... no pistons/rods. When I put the oil pump on, it seems fine, then when I put the oil pump on with hondabond and tighten it down, the crank will turn and then get to a hard spot. The Block/crank is a b18b, the pump is a type r...brand new, and I have 2 new pumps and tried them both. Anyone have any idea WTF is up?
So I took the pump apart, and there are some very very small marks on the backside of the case (when you take all of the set screws out, the piece that comes off exposing the gears). For whatever reason, the gears are rubbing on that, but only sometimes... if you keep the crank spinning it's fine, but if you stop it in a certain spot it's kinda hard to get started. It doesnt do it every time though, so I dunno? I clearenced the cover some with some sandpaper, and it got a lot better...but it's still a little hard to get turning on occasion. It's nothing major, and I dunno if it will even matter...opinions?

thats possible...........take the crank to a good machine shop and have them measure the crank.

I had it to a machine shop who balanced it and polished it...but I guess if they had no reason to check that, then they wouldn't... Could I do it by checking it with a mic in several spots?
