what will smoke white externally of the engine...i have no smoke coming out the exhaust....something just seems to be burning.

im htinking i have a slight oil leak, or coolant leak...can anyone chime in?

lol...have been for weeks...it is very weird...when the car is just sitting in the garage and i let it run...idle is fine. no smoke from exhaust or engine bay. i go out and drive for a little....and the engine bay and beneath the car start smoking really bad.

im at a complete loss

 

You have a leak. Maybe your oil filter is loose and oil is dripping on your exhaust.

 

nope..oil filter is snug...the sandwich plate is leaking in between the filter and plate....anyone have suggestions on what filter to use with a GEM sandwich plate/?

 

Nope? Thats practically the same area!

I bet money you have the GE sandwich plate backwards. The rubber O-ring on the plate should face the motor not the oil filter.

 

lol...the plate, along with my whole setup was installed by a highly qualified shop, there is no o-ring on the adapter facing the filter, so it is installed correctly.

Just a guess, but what about your fuel injectors? Are they leaking around the o-ring anywhere and dripping on the block? The only reason I say this is that I had my first car do that...but it wasn't an import, domestic.

update: i have successfully located both leaks and am going to tackle them both tomorrow. thanks to everyone for the help
