Default SOME FUN WITH A J30A1

Well now, my dad is about ready to get a new car. He currently owns a 98 Accord V6. I told him I'd buy the car for whatever the dealership would give him for it, keeping in mind that it has well over 250 thousand miles. I want to rip the internals out and CAREFULLY mount the engine in my 96 del Sol. My question was if they even made a 5-speed that year for that engine or if I'm going to have to pull something tricky off. The other option I have is to throw the AT that it has in my del Sol. Any suggestions guys?

its a very time consuming project, plus not to mention costly, and most of the parts has to be customed

you need the 6spd manual tranny out of the cl/tl type-s or the 7th gen accord V6 coupes

accord v6 auto trannys are infamous for shitting the bed - stay away if you have any performance ideas.

All i have to say is good luck to you.

As have been mention..time and money comsumption. Your time that you knock off in the quarter mile WILL NOT justify your work/money.

That's one hell of a project that is not going to be worth it. If you want the torque of the V6 (who doesn't) then save the money that you would have spent on buying the accord and custom mounting a v6 in it and just turbo the Sol. Problem solved.

OR- you could try to swap the 6spd from the new accord into the 98 and see where that lands you. Ive always wanted to try that.

Yes, it is true. Time and money . I'll be gettin the car for around 500 bucks since it is my dad. I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it and my del Sol needs a new motor so I was like "Hmmmmmmmmmm...here's an idea." I didn't really feel like spending the money on my B16 and well, the del Sol is an auto. I might just throw the 6-spd in the Accord, since nobody does 4-doors. If I bore and stroke the 3.0 can I make a NSX wannabe?
