ive noticed since i swapped out my D15B1 for an SOHC ZC that it never really gets warm.it takes 10-20 min before i can fel any heat from the heater. the gauge will slowly climb to halfway if the car is sitting but as soon after i start moving it goes back down to the bottom. any ideas on how i would test the temp sender? i have a multimeter.

It's possible that your thermostat is stuck open. Does it stay cool/cold while driving, with little heat from the vents? Have you felt the radiator hoses after the car has been running for a few?

yes i used the instructions in my haines manual and i am confident that it is properly bled. i dont think its the thermostat because when i open the rad cap the water doesnt flow until it gets warm. i havent felt the hoses but i will in the morning

its most likely ur thermostat cuz i had the same problem exept i got heat but i would go drive 30 miles and the gauge would stay below half engine temp gauge,
i chaged the thermostat and it was then and since fine, to check the thermostat just get it out and boil some water real hot and dump it in and it should open if it dont open all the way or at all theres ur problem, but as i say there are hundreds of possible problems, we can just name the common ones right.

correct me if im wrong but wont my car OVERheat if the thermostat doesnt open?
when im driving the temp gauge is bottomed out. but when it sits it climbs to a little under halfway like normal. i wouldnt be too worried about it but a cold engine is not as efficient or powerful as it could be

yeah the thermostat blocks the water that goes tothe engine, i dont know how my car got fixed but i guess i got luck, it could still be the stat if the thermostat is always open, jus chge it for a couple bux, nothing hard or major. ok take it out and jus inspect and test it incase it is always open, i dont know im only 15 years old
