sohc v-tech in 97 cx hatch
i am wantin to put a sohc v-tech in my 97 cx hatch the motor i got came out of a 94 civic i need to know what all i have to do to put this motor in i got the swap so need to fig this out can any one help lol
First let me get out the inevitable v-tech/VTEC thing. First, you'll need the motor obviously, you could use your tranny, you'll need an OBD II to OBD I conversion harness, an ECU (P28), and you'll have to wire in the VTEC solenoid. Other than that, it's very near plug and play. If you check the Civic or Hybrid forum, one of them will probably have extensive write-ups on doing this swap.

You will have to do some wiring work to your CX engine harness in order for the OBD1 conversion to work properly.
Here's what you will need to do:
Here's what you will need to do:
- 3 to 2-wire IACV mod, see my diagram here:

and

- reuse your CX alternator so you don't have to change the alternator plug to an OBD1 alt. plug
- Add wiring for VTEC Pressure Switch and VTEC solenoid (see first diagram link above)
- Perform the OBD2 injector clip mod so you can use OBD1 injectors and not have to cut and splice OBD1 injector clips to your CX harness:

ok good.
then disregard wiring in VTEC and the IACV mod.
Everything else in the list above is still required.
If you decide not to convert to OBD1 and use an OBD2 EX ecu to power the engine you will need to perform the CKF trick and wire in the 2nd 02 sensor manually as EX harnesses do not have integrated 2nd 02 sensor wiring like your CX harness does.
