Default SOHC Timing Advace.

Does anyone know how much timing advace I can do on a SOHC D16Y7 to get some extra boost? I need all information as possible. If you have already done it to your car please leave detailed instructions. Thanks!!

Look under your hood! Sticker will tell you OE setting and +/- figure. A bump within spec. usually helps.

yes, do not go beyond spec. for almost all honda engines, timing should be 16deg BTDC (-/+ 2deg)

stock for the y7 is 12 btdc +/- 2....i would try 16/18/20 degrees, run premium gas, read the plugs for lil metal spex/pepper and listen for pinging...i doubt youll audibly ping even @ 20++ btdc

advancing your timing won't do much you just might get 1 hp difference at top end.

you will need to run higher octane gas.

all you do is disconnect your negative terminal on your battery, loosen up the bolts on the distributor, and turn it towards the firewall.

u don't want to advance it too much.

my advise is just to leave it stock timing. that's the best.

yes very little, if you advance it like 2 degrees. get a timing light and use the timing light. you don't want to advance it too much

know what you are doing & what it does before you touch anything in the engine bay. otherwise it's best left alone.
