yep. bracket ripped out and pulled part of my tube with it. i don't know how or when, either. the bracket was tightened down, no room to move or bounce or put extra stress on it. i didn't even notice it until today when i had to take it off (foot-deep puddles in norcal after 1-night storm). i'm really pissed... there shouldn't have been a factor that made this happen. time for a new intake... and it sure as hell won't be an AEM>
I know about those norcal rains, I did the same thing the other nite. taking that CAI off.
I think AEM is still good quality, just hey **** happens. under stress on any other intake it might have done the same thing. sucks that broke. sorry

just use a duct tape to cover it,
Sounds good to me...
Duct tape =$1
AEM CAI = $181
hmmm... you chose

i'm gonna flatten out the jagged edgs and put an aluminum shim on it
good way to save the CAI
its because of the welding of two diffrent thikness's of metals the intake tube is thin wall'd and the bracket is real thick when you weld somthing thick to somthing thin it melts the metal and makes it weaker which would have caused the metal to tear its just poor design
i noticed this on many aem intakes
just put a rubber gasket around it like the on that holds the intake to the t/b

THey have lifetime guarantee. Especially since you have a picture that you used the rubber grommet thing. Check their website and call them up, they are pretty good about taking care of their screw ups. They screwed me up a couple times, but they took care of it which is why I still buy their stuff. SOme places just don't care. http://www.aempower.com
Would a foot deep puddle be too much for the bypass-valve to handle?
I just put on an AEM CAI with the bypass-valve but I am curious as to what conditions the bypass-valve can handle.

The problem the bypass valve is that it works well when there is a complete seal of water in the intake....anything halfway and the water will still whip around and likely get into the engine...
...no room to move or bounce ...
nah i had the same problem, the mount ripped right off the tube. i sent them the pictures and he (robert green) said he cant give me a new one cause it wasnt installed correctly (the person who installed it for me forgot to put the rubber pieces on...) so i just cut the pipe and made it a short ram.
I am with Markpaco on this one. If you do not use the AEM rubber isolator, there is no where for the engine movement to be absorbed, so you fatigued the bracket. If you try to salvage it (duct tape), be sure to change the mount this time. Sorry to see this happen to you.

or you could save the trouble and DUCT TAPE it.
