it is an interference engine so it couldve belt the valves, just put a belt back on,say a prayer and see if it starts.

I dont agree with that at least at the very least pull the head off the car and see if you can see where the valves hit the pistions because there is a 99.9% chance that the valves hit it may be one it may be 16 you don't know till you pull it off. Don't half *** something like this. And don't do your work twice dissassemble it and diagnose it, nothing like putting something back together and then having to rip it all apart agian because of lazieness.

its waste of time and money to tear it down like that esp if you have to pay for the labor, its pretty easy just to put the belt on and start it without putting all the **** back on like covers, alt + ps belts etc etc.So it wont be like your doing work twice if it dont start and your not gonna do anymore damage that already "might" have been done.

Well if your going to put a new timing belt on you take the crank pulley off anyway after you set it TDC and then you put it on why not take the extra 15 min to pull the cams and then pull the head off the car? i mean it isn't that hard to do. i would take 15min instead of a whole day of putting it back together and then tearing it down putting new valves in (everything that is included) and then putting it back together just me though. you can do it the hard way if you want.

Your doing it the hard way,it'll take about 1 minute to put it on TDC and crank it,YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER TO SEE IF IT WILL START..Your way will take 15 minutes to take the rest apart but way way longer to reassemble it,after you bought a head gasket,tq the head and cam caps, adjust the valves, reset the distributor,etc..all work the you will do for NOTHING if you see no damage.I cant tell you how many engines I wouldve teared for nothing if I did things your way and how much money of my customers I wouldve wasted.

I'm sorry but this is the way that i was tought diff people were tought differant, i would just rather not have an engine running that is potetially broken. I start my ASE training in january no matter what they say after i am done i will do the procedure my way. Also about the customers money being wasted if they take it to a dealership which i will be working for infinity it ain't like they get rapped on the price anyway, it would take me an extra hour and with a dealership you get charged by the book no matter what say a brake job takes 1 hour (turning rotors and what not) and you get paid for 3 hours of labor.

Like i said i have certian procedures that make me fell better about a job some people are differant but like i said a hurt motor don't need to be run.
