snaped cam bolt off in head
Well I just got a 1992 prelude 2.3 for $1000, the timing belt broke and bent 6 valves. I rebuild the head and put everything back onto the car, when I went to torque down the cams on my intake side the long bolt snapped off inside the head. I’m not sure what I should do? do you think a machine shop can get it out or do you think i should scrap the head. It is so deep you can barley get a drill down in there.
thanks,
mike

Even if it can't be drilled out, then you can have the hole redrilled (which would destroy the broken bolt) and have it retapped.
By the way, welcome to Honda-Tech.

i did the same thing, if its that deep and theres enough threads to put a shorter bold in then do that. I have been running my car with a broken on since Nov
haven't gotten around to it yet

i dont know if i would do that... it would still need to go in pretty deep... i would rather just pay the machine shop how ever much it costs and do it right for good, then to run into major problems later on.
I just got the head off and im going to take it to a machine shop tomorrow. If it is really bad he can probably tap a size bigger and put in a helicol so I can still run the stock bolt size. Does anyone know the exact torque spec for those cam bolt caps.
Thanks,
mike
