SOMEONE PLEASE GIMME SUM INSIGHT ON THIS
^^^ agreed. You've got a major short somewhere. Time to crawl under your dash and tract down the burnt wire and/or blown fuse. A good place to start is any aftermarket or alarm junk installed.
When did you see the smoke?
When ign. turned on or when trying to start, [cranking] the engine?
The smoke is from burning wire insulation, it is caused by a short, 12V+ wire touching a ground, or too much current going through too small of a wire, poor connections will also cause enough heat to burn things.
If the burning/smoke only happens when cranking to start, the problem is in the starter circuit, between ign. switch and the starter relay or starter relay and the starter motor solenoid.
If burning/smoke happens when ign. switch is turned to run, the problem can be in a lot of places, but either way it is, as mentioned, a short and it will have to be repaired or you could burn car to the ground. 94
