Default Is this Smart :) or Dumb :( Idea?? Switching ECUs?

My situation is this:

I own an 89 civic dx hatch with B16a using hondata. (converted to obd1 by hardwire) It's been started, but no miles on motor yet.
I also own a 95 civic EX with B18c using obd1... the p72 if my memory serves me correctly. Daily driver.

The 95 civic runs great with no check engine light.

CAN I SWITH THE TWO COMPUTERS??? The hondata s200 and the p72? They are both OBD1... They aren't the same size, but the plugs match right up.

The 89 civic has hunting idle when it comes up to tempature. Can I swith the p72 over the my 89 civic safely and check to see if it has the same symptoms??

I already started the 95 civic with the s200, and it started fine, but had a CEL.
Point me in the right direction please... Can I hurt anything by doing this???

yes, you can do that if they are both chipped.

Default One more tid-bit of info if you could.

The p72 that is in the 95 civic is a stock ECU. It has not been chipped by Hondata yet.

What difference does it make after the Ecu is chipped? Other than the obvious, it can be programmed with another Prom burn....

The Hondata just has a base map for a stock B16a... IT's a 12 to 1 comp motor, but I figured that didn't matter because all I've been doing to the motor so far is letting it idle.

to solve your idling issues you sure can swap them. mind the p72 maps will be off from what then b16 needs.

The p72 will just be used to start the 89 dx and get it up to temp and see if the hunting idle goes away..... Then it will be swapped back.

Cool, so the overall feeling is that I should be cool.

yep, you shouldn't have a problem doing that.

your hunting idle at warmup could possibly be bigger problem like air in your cooling system from blown head gasket, cracked block.my B16 had a blown head gasket and idle would fluctuate only after warmup when thermostat opens.I know the motor is new but could the block have been cracked previously? or is the head warped?
