Sluggish pickup
Just got my EK9 last week. I was delighted on finally getting it although it is a 2nd hand car. On the way back, felt that the pickup was extremely sluggish even for a B16B. I used to drive a EG6 CRVtec and the torque was good. I nvr expect the EK9 to match the EG6 but the response was ridiculously retarded. I must wait until the tacho needle to hit 3000rpm then the car picks up speed.
I get lorries, taxis and cyclists horning at me for being so slow but i can't help it. I thought the sluggishness is due to the fact the car is running Crower stage 3 cams but this is abit ridiculous.
Could it be that i am running too rich? Cos it felt like that. Or could be it cos of the cams?

A number of factors.
Where are you? How did you come across a CTR?
Fuel system may need to be cleaned, air filter, 3000 RPM on some high end cams actually sounds right on a 1.6L.

I am from Singapore. I own 1 of the 5 EK9s around and the only black one. Don't know whether to feel special or marked.
Anyway, i was thinking whether it could be due to the stock airbox i am using. Don't like to use AEM and stuff cos it floods in SG and i am going for a sleeper look. Was thinking of getting the Spoon filter kit but it costs an arm and leg here. Probably run a air hose to bring some cool air up to the airbox after i respray the car.
Could my car be running too rich? My friend says there is a bit of black smoke coming out when i pick up.
