Ok, my ej coupe is running rough now because my rod bearings are very bad(low pitch rattle). The engine is very loud when when it is a cold start, and rattles when going uphill or accelerating heavily at high RPM. My mechanic told me to put oil additives when I do an oil change. I used an oil additive that he recommended but I do not think its working anymore. Will Slick 50 work, or improve lubrication?
This problem is weakening my fuel economy & horsepower but it does have 160K.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, 160K is low mileage in the land of honda. It must have been really beaten on. I dont know much about slick 50, but I know lucas oil stabilizer is good stuff in a situation like this. Its definetely a bandaid for a bigger issue, and I wouldnt use it on a perfect engine. That is what I'd use before anything though. Its thick as hell, and probably your best bet. You can increase lubrication, but the clearances are all shot to hell. Pour the thick stuff in! Good luck
Slick 50 was a marketing thing during the 90's...
Those things wont do miracles, only thing you could do is try a stiffer oil, but rod knock is rod knock, miracle medicine just doesnt exist.
Also I'd go to another mechanic, any mechanic who suggests something like that is an idiot.
