Default Single vs dual bend Shifters

I'm just wondering what's the differances. I have a 2000 gsr and i want to use a single bend short shifter, will that work good or should i just stick with a dual bend short shifter? Plus is all shifter universal for all honda?

Dual bend sits the shifter closer to you. They both have the same throw.
