simple spring walkthrough
hey i'm new at working with cars and have a '93 civic ex coupe, i just got some tanabe springs and all the instructions are in japanese. being american i can't read japanese (not that no american can just that i can't) anyways all i know is one set of bushings goes in front and the other goes in the back (labeled in english on the box) but i can't figure out where on the car they go, or which springs go up front (i'm guessing the shorter ones) i haven't tried to put themm on yet (fear of taking apart something i can't get back together) and i'm trying to find some step by step i can print out. so if anyone is getting ready to upgrade and has a clue bout this and could help me out (preferably with pics) i would really appreciate the help. thanks
thanks for the post. i was ready to go try it when a friend im'ed me and informed me that i need a spring compressor to avoid a nasty accident when removing the springs so i decided to wait till i could get some help. i figure that way it'll be faster and a better job than me just makin it up as i go along. plus i won't have to worry about shooting a spring across the street or anything like that. my next project is a skunk2 short throw shifter. i put on a skunk2 strut tower bar (no wonder they don't put instructions in for that all you have to do is remove the two 14mm nuts on each strut tower then pop the braces on then i had to tap the cross piece in and bolt it with the supplied hardware. verry simple it only take a 14mm socket, an allen wrench (forget what size but it was the biggest one i had maybe 3mm), the tapping was done with a rubber mallet (could have just used my hands but whats the fun in that!) and about 15-20 minutes. shifters next as soon as i get the chance.
