shotpeened rods...
Do shotpeened rods hold up? I'm thinking about getting the stock LS rods shotpeened for a B18a i'm building, so if anyone has personally had any good/bad experiances with peened rods please let me know. Stock LS rods are already strong as heck, but i'm gonna need something that will handle a few hundred hp. The whole bottom end is in great shape, so i doubt they are very fatigued at all. The rod bearings werent even worn in all the way yet. What do you guys think?
Oh, and i DO plan on using some arp bolts, so no need to point that out

If a few hundred horsepower equates to 200whp, then the shotpeened rods will be more than enough.
If you are talking about 300+ then I would go with Crower rods. Many recommend these over the Endyn rods (due to pricing).

"Shot-peening is simply a method of stress-relieving the surface of the rod. It will (help) eliminate stress risers that originate at the surface, but it's far from being a magic treatment that will enable you to safely make gobs more power at higher rpm in a modified engine." Larry W.
Shotpeening rods does not make them any stronger it only lessons the chances of the rod stress cracking. They will still bend under the same load. Take your chances or do it right and purchase some quality rods.
