I need a pair of wheels for the track and weekend driving. I was wondering if people here have had good experiences with either HX or VX wheels. I'm interested in drag racing purposes. I would also like input on tires brand/sizes that are good.
I have a Crx w/B18A and soon to be installed Greddy Sohc turbo kit. Would these wheels with sticky tires slow me down due to lack of traction or would they help my times? I'm expecting 160-180 whp. Thanks for all inputs.

 

Well, not to be picky but did you mean Dohc? "soon to be installed Greddy Sohc turbo kit" As far as wheels go look into the Lenso drag wheels or maybe some Kosei K1's. Bfg is coming out with a new drag tire and the Nitto nt 555r.are good choices.The hx wheels are hard to find and some times costly.Traction should help not hurt in the quarter. Thats just my opinion. I also have a B18A in my CRX. I have a pair of HX rims on Nitto 555Rs. I believe the size of the tires are 205/55/14, could be wrong though. I love them. Big improvement over street tires.

I'm installing the sohc Greddy Tdo4-15G onto the b-series dohc motor. I already ported and slotted the manifold, I needed new intercooler pipings anyways. I meant a possible lack of traction due to the light weight and rotational mass of the wheels, but I guess with really sticky tires with the higher side walls, the wheels will improve my times. Thanks for the input on the tires.

Anyone have inputs on VX wheels? I have 15" Rotas c8s now but I'm deciding if I should switch over to HX wheels or should I just stay with what I have now. I would appreciate any further inputs. Thanks.

 

Actually I use the 555R's only at the track, so I couldn't tell you how they are on the street. Where I am, it rains alot, so having the 555R's on would be bad. I've been getting low 2.1 60ft. times. I don't think that I'm heating them up enough also. I would stay with the C8's for the street and use the HX's for the track, both are pretty light wheels. I use SSR Type-X's on the street with the HX's on the 555R's up front at the track.
