what qualifies as good springs and shocks? how can i tell when doing research on each company?

Generally speaking any brand name company such as Eibach or H&R and Koni or KYB that's been around for years makes some decent product. It's the cheap ebay silly name product that doesn't perform well. Do some reading on here using the search function and you should find enough info to make an educated buying descision.
