Default Shifting into 1st Gear Problem

So I was sitting at a red light and I pressed in the clutch and put my 5-speed in 1st gear waiting for a green arrow. For some reason the clutch started to engage even though I had the clutch pressed down to the ground. The car stalled and once restarted, I had trouble synching it back up to engage in first gear. This happened twice tonight, but once I got it synched back up, it seemed to run fine. Any thoughts on what may be going on would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ron

Look for fluid leaks first, to rule that out.

But I bet it's the clutch master cylinder going bad. When that same exact problem happens to brakes, the pedal sinks slowly to the floor at a red light.
