Default Milled Head .020, timing question.

If you tell me to search, or you just don't know. BUTT OUT.

There is no search query ever returned on (shaved head timing) or (timing on shaved head) Or (milled head timing) or (Your variation here...)

I have been getting a slight confusion about what is going to happen in the combustion chamber...

I KNOW the valves are closer to the pistons than before. What happens to their timing, and why? I was told that it was retarded by about 6 degrees.
OK, so they are going to open 6 degrees later than before.

1. Does this make a vacuum surge???

2. Also, what damage can happen if I try to advance them back to "stock" timing?

3. My main question is: Will they hit the piston?

4. Can I actually hope to make a little more power with this setup on a fresh rebuild?

I know that no one can HTML Dyno, but THEORETICALLY, Is this a safe setup?

Scott

6 degree's? By who

The general rule is .012 = 1 degree
so you would be at about 1.5 degree's

OK. I am assuming that adjustable cam gears are a must. I am about 1.5 degrees off. Am I threatening the valves by using adjustable cam gears, or the opposite, putting them in danger by not using them?

Thanks for the tech tidbit though. It helped. Top.

Are you in danger?

It depends. On the pistons, on the cams, what engine you are building.

At milling only .02 off, you would be safe putting them back to stock position (advancing them 1.5 degree's)

my heads milled 25 thousandths. i have cams abot the size of jun 3s. stock headgasket, jdm gsr motor. since theyre basically retarded -2, -2 does that effectively mean i could advance the intake cam +2(or move the cam timing 4 degrees in the advance direction) without problem? im pretty sure this will give me some nice gains since i havent tuned my new setup yet and just want to make sure ill have enough clearance to do that
