Setting timing on 1989 CRX si
What is the proper procedure to set the cam and crank up for proper timing?
The car is a 1989 CRX si with the D16a6.... I noticed the car timing was WAY out, so I removed the timing belts and etc.... But i need to know how to set it up right?
I am a newbee....
Thanks for any info.....

line up the TDC mark on the crank pulley (the white mark by itself.. to the right of the three marks together) with the sights on the lower timing cover. Then, line up your cam with the marks on the cam gear parallel to the head surface, and lining up the mark by itself with the pointer on the lower side of the top timing cover. Install the timing belt. Before tightening the tensioner, manuall turn the engine over approximately 1/8-1/4 of a turn by the crank pulley. tighten the tensioner.
Start the car, let it get up to operating temperature (cooling fan switches on). Then, jumper the timing connector either located in the driver's side engine bay for 88-89 models, or in the passenger floor board for 90-91 models. Set the timing with a timing light (usually line up the sights with the middle red mark). Un-jumper the connector and enjoy.
