Hey
When I start the car their is a screeching(screaming) noise coming from either the alternator belt or ps belt. Does this mean the belt is too loose?

Also does someone happen to know the amount of deflection each belt is supposed to have?

when i changed my alternator it did that because it was too loose, so to you answer your question, yes that could be a possibility. Did you recently change the alterntor or did you get the car that way?

It also could be your AC compressor, when it's on. It may need to be recharged.

 

All the belts have between .3" to .4" of deflection.

 

You need to tighten the belts..
