Default rough idle

Have a 2001 Accord 2.3 manual.

It definitely has a miss, but no codes. Did a cylinder balance test and all 4 cylinders act the same. Unplugged injectors, idle slows. All four cylinders. All measure 11.7 to 11.9 ohms and can be heard. Same slowing idle when pulling spark plug wires. Analog tach shows what i would best describe as a hiccup in cylinders 2,3,4 about every 10 seconds. Cylinder 1 seems ok, but no guarantees. Bottom line, I'm sure I have a miss, but I have no idea which cylinder.

Plugs, rotor, cap, wires replaced. Compression is good and can't find a vac leak.

Both long an short term trims are running 4 to 8 % rich.

I'm sure I have a miss, but I have no idea which cylinder.

Before I just start throwing real money at it, any ideas?

Thanks

Take out your plugs and inspect. You'll know which cylinder.

Set ignition timing. Check firing order and everything plugged in correctly.

fuel trim adding fuel? if you checked and found no vacuum leaks (with brake cleaner). Test voltage from maf or map sensor. If maf equipped. Try to monitor it through scan tool.

I needed ran thru a problem with Hondas having bad map sensor but could be wrong. Always start with checking easy basics.

Old plugs had anywhere between 10k and 100k on them. Looked perfect.

Connections have been checked to death.

Firing order - OK

Will check map sensor later, pretty sure no maf.

Any other ideas? Any thoughts on injectors?

Thanks guys

if it was an injector you would have seen it while doing the balance test. If it has a map sensor use a dmm. Sorry if that sounds ridiculous but everybody here says "i checked it" when all they do is look at it and flick it. You need to check that it gets it 5v referene, that it has a good ground, and that the voltage going back to the ecu is relevant.

Seems to me if an injector periodically didn't fire, or had a bad spray pattern, a balance test might not tell me anything. Same with a periodic lack of spark. But, I have no experience with either problem, so what do I really know?

BTW - can anyone give me a lead on an affordable scanner / diagnostic tool that can count or display misses on each cylinder.

MAP sensor sounds like a good idea. I'll try that if the rain ever lets up

Thanks again

Restricted egr passages giving all exaust gas into cylinder 1. Clean passages.

When egr is triggered from battery, at idle, engine dies. Makes me think passages are good, Yes?

Well it can still die and have restrictions in all 3 ports but one. Forcing all exaust gas to one cylinder. Take your plugs and compare. If one looks funny lets concentrate in that cylinder.

1.pull plugs and compare colors
3..check valve clearance if haven't done it
2..compression check

1-You must have this car confused with another year.

The egr port runs direct to the plenum, mixes with fresh air and is then distributed through the manifold. Seems to me if exhaust reaches the plenum there is nothing further to clog.

2-I repeat. Old plugs were perfect. New plugs only have a few hundred miles and show no signs of s problem.

Valve clearance seems ok.

Compression is even across the board.

fast idle valve.. take off ure intake with the car on and theres a hole on the throttle body.. cover it up with ure finger and see if the idle goes to normal.. if it does u can either change the sensor or just block it off
