no, you cant check bearing clearance whilst the engine is in the car,

unless you turn the car upside down!!!

this is 'cause you need to check the crankshaft to bearing clearance with 'plastigauge' to choose the right bearing size...

and to do this you have the crankshft sitting in the block and you put the bearings and caps on, tighten them and see waht the plastigauge says the clearance is...

(it is a time consuming task and MUST not be rushed.)

i thought you said the engine was just rebuilt 2000 ago?

what did the person who rebuilt it tell you?

Hey Will, have you checked your oil pressure!!!!

get a gauge, plug it in and check you oil pressure BEFORE you even think about ripin anything apart!

it could be an oil pump problem or even the pressue relief valve in your oil filtration system...

yeah i gota an autometer oil pressure guage and need hte fitting to install it so i'm waiting for that and i will go from there... i talk the guy who sold me it he said nothing was wrong wiht it when it was in his car... i change the oil pump already so the only thing i can really come up with is bearing clearances... i let u know how it goes though thanks for all your help!!!!
