Does anyone here know exactly what rings and bearing to buy for the ZC's. Are they the same as the stock D16a1. Also I read a while back about ls rods ? I tried doing a search but nothing really related came up. So will they work and if so whats the big advantage ? Gary
I myself am building my second ZC engine and I can tell you that the rings and bearings are that of a D16A1 (89 Integra). There are actually a few parts that are interchangeable between a D16A1/ZC and D16A6: the distributor cap, the rings are the same as well, and the oil pan gasket too. There are some things the are ZC/A1 only, like the bearings, head gasket, etc.
Long story short, a ZC can be completely rebuilt using seals, gaskets, etc. intended for an 89 Integra. EXCEPT the timing, which calls for one intended for an 88 Prelude 2.0L.
My last 2 cents, is that you get everything from Acura, don't cheapen out buying the rings and bearings that you can get from a parts store. They only seemed to last a year for me...

And I could never find or heard of LS rods fitting into a ZC. To the best of my knowledge, the crank-end of the rod needs to be modified to fit the crank and also clear the bottom the the cylinder, as it's on its way up.
I was also told by a machine shop, that ZC rods are of nearly the same strenght and quality of those found in a Type R. However, I do believe Eagle make rods for an 89 Integra D16A1, which would bolt in prefectly.
