Hey All,

I'm hoping someone can answer my question on this board - I know that some honda engines rotate in reverse (B Series from what I'm told) but have been unable to locate a list of engines that do this. I'm building a project car and the tranny is in reverse rotation, causing me to have to use a reverse rotation motor. I love the reliability of honda's and was hoping to use one of these motors. Any help is appreciated! I am hoping to swap out a GM motor that is a known reverse rotation...

All FWD Honda engines with the transmission on the passenger side rotate counterclockwise (i.e. in reverse) when looking at the drivebelt-end of the engine.

That includes all Integra engines, all 80's-2000 Civic and 01-05 Civic D-series engines, all 80's-early 2000's Accords, all Preludes.

By engine codes:

all D-series
all B-series
all H-series
all F-series Accord engines (not sure about the F20C S2000 engine).

There may be others I'm missing. Not sure about the 90's Acura Legend or NSX motors.

 

Thanks for the reply - that being said - what motor is the best bang for your buck? In the long run I hope to turbo, but for now I hoping to get the highest HP out of stock motor...Any suggestions?

Highest HP/torque stock would probably be a newer H22 DOHC VTEC engine, but it's heavier than say a B18C5 Integra Type R engine.
