Default Rev limiter aaccuracy with Hondata

I had a Hondata S100 installed and the rev limiter was set to 8500. I tested it out and was able to rev to 8750 w/o hitting the limiter. I found one post on the Hondata forums that said the Honda RPM gauge isn't that acurate at high RPMs.

Has anyone else had to deal with this? I'm not comfortable reving up to 9k (indicated by gauge) to test to see if the limiter is working or not and this is the first time that I have heard of the RPM gauge not being accurate.

BTW, this is on a stock GSR motor.

Me, and a buddy of mine both are running the hondata s100, and we don't have that problem. Maybe they didn't set it right at the place you got it. In the meantime just set your tach shift light to come on at the desired rpm limit.

kind of late
I noticed that I can hit 9000 without rev limiting kicking in. When I compare to the VAFC it is usually off by 400 RPM at around 5K. So it may be higher at higher RPMs.

Your stock tach is not very accurate. Dont sweat it.

The Hondata isn't wrong unless it was set wrong. On my ITR with stock ECU, I can rev to 9100 on the stock tach before hitting the limiter which my Apex Rev/Speed meter says is 8535. You have nothing to worry about, every tach I've seen is like this, so start winding that bitch out.
