Default resetting ECU other than pulling the battery plug?

what's an alternative way to reset the ECU other than from the battery?


EDIT: the reason being is that I dont want to reset my alarm system... it's a pain to setup.... i dont care about radio and clock...

I believe the factory manual says to...... pull out the 7.5 amp fuse that says "back up", for about 10 seconds, in the fuse box in the engine compartment.

yes and make sure the car is up tonormal operating temp. and after u put the fuse back in make sure all accessories in the car are off and start it up...let it idle for about 5 mins shut her down..restart her and your off...either way u will need to reset clock,have radio code if oem...

I just unplug mine, but it's not bolted in at all, so it's easy...

so PULLING that fuse is like pulling the battery out?

You can also reset some of them with a scantool.

Something I read on another forum:


1. warm your engine so that it reaches normal operating temp.
2. disconnect your negative battery lead andf then remove your ECU fuse from the fusebox under the hood for about 8 min.
3. replace fuse, re-connect battery.
4. start engine - DO NOT TOUCH ACCELERATOR PEDAL.
5. allow to idle for about 8min.
6. turn off ignition and wait for 2 min.
7. re-start engine and drive away.
