Default Reprogramming/Flashing PR4 OBD0 ECU?

Ok, I was wondering is it possible to chip a PR4 non-vtec ecu to run VTec? I'm doing an LS-vect build and I have an extra PR4, so was wondering if I can flash/reprogram my PR4 to run my GSR head? I will be using an OBD0 distributor as well. I figured since the PR4 is non-vtec it doesn't look for a knock sensor. A PR3, being vtec, yet obd0, will still look for a knock sensor. If I buy a PR3, I would have to disable the knock sensor. Since I have a PR4 laying around, i won't have to buy a PR3, but still pay for the reprogramming...

So either:

So either pay twice (once for PR3, twice for reprogramming)

Or

Pay Once (have my pr4 reprogrammed for VTec).

Any help will be appreciated, and please don't flame. I don't wanna go obd1, so please leave it out. Thanks!

I have been thinking about the same thing. I to am building an LS/Vtec and I can get PR4's from the junk yard all day for 30.00 each and there's a bunch (It's a pull-it-yourself junkyard) I worked in eletronics briefly, and can solder quite well. I know they put ZIF sockets in but I don't know where to get them

well from what I heard from someone here locally, is that you cannot program an obd0 non-vtec ecu to run vtec, besides the ps9 ecu (90-91 civic sedan ex). Other than that, he said nothing else can be programmed...I guess we're better off getting PR3's...I seen a few on craigslist here for around $40, so I'm not too worried about it...

This guy at WWW.XENOCRON.com he is on e-bay and you can get everything to do the V-tech to a pr4 non V-tech and you can go to pgmfi.org for more info. I have a 450hp integra and got the chip kit and the burn 2 chip programmer and data logging kit with fast shipping had it in 3 days.
