Replacing Ignition Switch
Well i had to replace mine when i did my swap, but mine was a 96 civic. (just my luck i guess) But if i were you i wouldnt replace it till it starts giving you any problems. Cuz youll know if and when it does.
The old saying..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it." applies here. Sure you could replace it to prevent a possible problem, but that is true of all the parts on the car. When the ignition switch goes bad, the symptoms are very obvious. And, since it's usually an intermittent type of failure, it won't leave you stranded for long. If you do want or need to replace it, only the electrical part of the assembly needs to be changed. It's held on by two phillips head screws. Although it's not too complicated to do, you will need to disconnect your battery and remove the steering column shrouds first.
