replaced clutch... and still same flapping noise!? :(
well... here it goes.. i have a manual tranny civic... at idle you can hear a flapping type of noise ... but when you put the clutch in... the sound goes away... you can also hear the flapping type noise in low rpms in neutral or 1st... if I am to give it gas in neutral at low rpms with the clutch in.. there is no noise whatsoever!
at first I thought it was the clutch... So I replaced it with a whole clutch kit
and I am still having the same problem... has anyone had the same problem? any suggestions on what it can be?
thanks!

ive read some people say its the throw out bearing... ive read that its the mainshaft bearing.. and a few other things... what can it be?

it could be a throw out bearing or it could be in the transmission, one of the bearings
like my first gear on my car sounds like that and/or neutral
all other gears are quite
i would lean towards the throw out bearing though
hope this helps,

If you've replaced the throwout bearing, then that's obviously not it.
I would suspect something internal to the transmission. Input shaft bearing, or maybe another mainshaft bearing.

from all the reading ive done, thats what Ive narrowed it down to... F**k ima be a sucker to pay someone to open the tranny twice just for a $20 bearing
thanks for the input guys

another question... besides the noise... can this bring other problems to the tranny? if left like that
?

If the bearings completely wears out, yes it can. After the bearing race deteriorates, I've heard of the ***** coming out and getting chewed up by the gears in the tranny. It will only get worse with time, likely.
Hey all,
New here.
I'm battling this aggravating racket too.
I just replaced ALL of the parts you've been talking about. Clutch kit, throw out bearing, even the bushings. Still got the grindy flap noise. I think it's internal to the transmission. And is likely the Synchronizer. I'm going to go ahead and drop the 200 bucks and get another transmission. After it's in I'll post results here. Good forum!
