I have had this problem with surging idle for some time.
Have searched and tried every little fix.
I read through the helms troubleshooting and replaced everything including ecu.

Finally ended up swapping intake manifold(complete) with another that I had and the problem stopped.
Now all of a sudden its doing it again.

Car is 91 integra
When I replaced the IM I also replaced the fuel filter.
Coolant is full and bled of air.
What could be the problem?????

 

intake manifold gasket sealing up right? positive the coolant is full? could be leaking out somewhere?

 

coolant is full, IM gasket is new and has been fine for the last 2 weeks since I changed it

 

IACV or FICV, the latter was my problem...What pain to diagnose, but cake to fix.

 

is IACV and FICV the same or different part. I swapped the IACV and didn't help but of course afterward I swapped the whole IM (including IAC) and that fixed it temporarily

They are seperate parts, the fast idle valve(FICV) is a wierd thermostat kind of thing, usually behind the IM, you`ll find it in Helms..

 

OK I didn't understand the abbreviation, haven't had much time to check everything again since it started again but that's usually my second or third step. I hope it doesn't need replaced
