Default removing the valve cover

i'm removing the valve cover from my crx (btw: thanks KAMiN!) and i'm following the helms manual...anyways, is it safe to leave the fuel hose & fuel return hose disconnected for a long period of time....let's say two weeks at the most....any help of advice would greatly be appreciated....thanks!

p.s. my car has not been running for 2 of 3 years.

Before you disconnect the fuel line make you open the gas cap to release the pressure. Get a shop tower to cover it up so dirt won't get into fuel lines. Use a vise grip to prevent fuel from leaking out. Why are you removing the valve cover?
