removing head?
can u guys give me the proper steps to removing the head. Theres like ten bolts labeled "R", I take it those are the bolts holding the head on? Does the cam's have to be removed? IF any one can scan, or know of a site, that would help pls post a link. thx.
Ummm.....what motor? You don't have to remove the cam on a D series. Not sure about B series motors. There is a head bolt removal sequence remember. If you don't have a Helms, go to the dealer and photocopy the pages you need.
The "header" bolts should be pretty easy. The "head" bolts will be tough.

I just removed the head on my d16y8 it was pretty straight forward no big problems just hope that I can bolt it all back up. I had a problem with the header bolts rounded 3 off. I had to put vice grips on them as tight as I could and strain my *** off to get them off. I finally did but like I said I hope I can bolt all this junk back up.
dont use a long extension on the ratchet, the shorter the better, use good sockets (snap-on, matco), and a long breaker bar, and you should never strip a header bolt.
I used a 6 point metric socket and no extension all 3 that rounded off were across the top row of bolts. Thats all right I was planning on getting some new ones. I guess that they kinda seized up on there from getting hot then cold alot.
The Header bolts should be a sinch if you drip some Liquid Wrench or WD40 on there the night before and let it soak.
The head bolts aren't going to be TOO difficult... just use a nice size braker bar and get someone to hold the motor still while you crank at it (if it's out of the car). They're only torqued to about 60-70 lb/ft so it's not as hard as the crank pulley. Have no fear, you'll get them off.
Yes, in a B series motor the cams must come out.

. My head bolts almost killed me. I thought they were going to break when I was removing them.
