Default Removing Crank Pulley

Trying to put a timing belt on a b18c1 for my friend, and need to remove the crank pulley. Thing is, were gonna be doing this in front of his house, so we will have nothing but hand tools. Questino is, when removing the crank pully bolt, would it be ok if we have one person sit in the car, put it in gear and hold the brake pedal down? Only reason I ask is someone told me that it would be bad to put stress on the tranny

Probably won't be putting any more stress on the tranny then when you are doing a burnout, launching the car, or shifting hard.
