Default remanufactured distributors...

I believe that my distributor bearing is going bad. I have about 75K on my b16a3 and it is time for a tuneup. Two questions here.

1. Where can i find a remanufactured distributor for a good price?

2. How do you tell if it is the distributor going bad?

actually make it three....

3. What spark plug wires are recommended?

I did a search on the remanufactured distributors but i didn't turn up anything.. . .

thx!

hmm, dunno where you can find a reman. distributor...but..

Is your car running like poo poo?
if so, you might want to check other things rather than blaming the distributor right off the bat. Usually a bad distr. has weird symptoms like backfiring, check engine light for ignition components and a few other things.

If you think the internal bearing is going bad, the way to check is by taking off your distributor and turning the distributor key area with your fingers. If theres binding, (real hard to turn) then yes, the bearing is going to crap. If it turns freely than all is well.

If you have an OBD1(92-95) distr. those rarely go bad. and if they do bad, its usually the internal coil, which can be swapped out with an OBD1 SOHC distributor's internal coil.

FYI -- even though you seem to own an OBD1 equipped car - The really crappy distributors are the 89-91 B16A distr. Those always go bad and its usually a combo or one of these 3 things:
- internal bearing begins to seize
- internal coil goes bad
- ignitor goes bad

hth...

as far as spark plug wires go...
NGK's work good. You can't go wrong with OEM stock spark plug wires either. You want to look for spark wires for a 93-96 DOHC VTEC Delsol, 99-00 Si coupe, 92-00 Integra GSR, all of those will work on your B16A3.

thx for the reply.
my motor runs great w/ 75k on it! i hear some noises that seem to be metal on metal maybe... like shushing sound also every now and then a tweeting type sound ?! aseems to be more when there is moisture in the air and/or it is cold outside . It could be my altenator or my dis. bearing. I will pull the dis. and check to see if it turns freely.

anyone have one of the b16b race base crank pulley available for sale ?
