I am relocating my battery to the back, im aware i should be using 4 guage cable but what is a good all round dry cell that can still power my sub/amp and what is the best method for joining the new cable to the existing cable?
also if anyone knows where to get the best/cheapest battery trays for holding it in place.
thanks in advance

I used 2 guage cable to a regular battery (1,000 cranking amp) in the trunk of my last car ('91 Civic) and it worked well, although my voltage dropped a very slight amount.
I used a cheap battery box that I found in an automotive store. Most auto stores and large department stores carry battery boxes.
Hope this helps.

Ditto the above^^^ although a "wet cell" would require venting to the outside, there are some good "dry cell" batt. out there, [optima is not one of them], BatCap makes a pretty good product... http://batcap.net/
Odyssey makes even better ones... http://www.odysseybatteries.com/
Wiring is pretty simple, run your 2 or 4 gauge from relocated batt, [install ANL fuse as clost to batt. as possible] connect othe end to starter motor, run an 8ga from starter motor to under hood fuse box, ground batt. with as short a cable as you can, [seat and seat belt bolts work well], remove stock batt. cables except chassis to engine ground cable.
Your done. 94

one way to join cables inside the bay (alt, cable from trunk, and others) is to either do it with inline fuses (car stereo inline fuses, had a friend do this). I had my cousin machine my a block of aluminum with holes in the sides with set screws on top to hold them in place.

thats some very usefull info.
i think il do what dcm suggested rather than having a join which could cause problems long term.
what should i be looking for in a battery to do the job?(sub+amp)?
thanks again

^one thing to keep in mind is if you relocate your battery you have to have a switch(someone could tell you the exact name) to turn it on and off if you plan on running at the track. Only reason I didn't do it was for that reason.

You need a min. cranking amps. What does your battery say now ?
Any auto parts store can look it up in a book. Then you can step up to whatever battery you want for the sound system.
They come in a few different sizes. So you can get a small battery that will do what you need.
You can even go to dept stores and buy good batteries.
I know your in the England but you should be able to find what you need.

The car didnt come with a std battery as i brought it with an engine, if anyone knows typically what they are std that would be a start.
i didnt realise i could get a small one that could still power my system, i wanted to put the battery inside the rear bumper but thought i wouldnt be able to but if i can find a small one that would do the job i suppose i could still.
Is there a staple dry cell battery that poelpe are using?

thanks but what battery in particular is the best all rounder or the best one to use just for a mildly tuned engine with a decent system
Here is a real small one that will do the job... http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/er40.htm [9.8"x3.8"x8.1"] and 87min @25A.
Keep in mind your electrical system runs off the alt. once car is started, if you want to be able to play your audio system for long periods of time without engine running you will need to look for something with a higher reserve capasity... http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc2150.htm this one is bigger, [13.00"x6.8"x9.41" add .882" for post hight] and 205min @25A
The Odyssey "rack mount"... http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc1800.htm [22.1"x4.92"x12.44" and 475min. @ 25A] is a very good batt. but keep in mind the bigger the batt. the more it will weigh. 94
