Default ? regarding CTR pistons

I installed my new CTR pistons onto stock B16a rods and installed them into the B16a block. When I checked the piston to deck height I get possitive .015". Is this normal? I was planning to run a GSR cylinder head, which I already have, and it looks as though it is going to have piston to head contact. Do I need a thicker head gasket or just get a B16 head? Thanks

Thanks for answering my question! This is normal as the CTR piston sits .030" higher from the center of the wrist pin than the stock PR3 piston. A stock head gasket should provide at least .015" clearance as I believe the gasket itself is about .030" thick. As for the head I can not say for sure, has been milled at all?

By the way I have a post asking how far the pistons stick out of the hole!

How did you measure the height, do you feel it is fairly accurate?

Headgasket would be cheaper and easier than getting a new head... go to cometic. they hooked me up with a .067" gasket (pretty fockin big. hehe)

Dang, that is pretty thick. How long have you been runnin it? What was the reason to get that thickness?

The head has been cut .037". My measurement isn't very acurate because I just used the butt end of my dial caliper. I'll try a straight edge and feeler guage tomorrow. That should be more accurate. I figured compression for my setup on c-speed.com with the piston at negative .020" deck clearance and it was going to be around 12.5 to 1. Now the compression calculator on c-speed.com does not give a provission for Possitive deck clearance. How can I calculate this? Thanks for the replies!

I used a straight edge and feeler guage today and measered the piston to deck height and with the CTR pistons in the B16A block which has not been decked, the piston sits out of the hole .017". In order to run a GSR head on this setup, a minimum of .052" thick head gasket must be used to achieve the minimum .035" clerance between the head and piston.

Good info.

I am also glad to hear that the piston sits less than .020" out of the hole!

McFly...so what happened? Did everything go well? let me know cause my pistons are sticking out by 0.011" and the head has been milled 0.013"....so does that mean i will need a 0.040" head gasket?
