Default redline from the start up

I put my intake manifold on yesterday. I'm getting another code from my VSS(vehicle speed sensor) that's why my speedo was jumping around. I did some reading up on it, and everyone said that more than likely it went bad because of an oil leak. None the less, my car won't run. I can start it up and everything but the engine just revs up without mt touching the gas, like all the way up. i tried to put it in gear, and the rpms dropped down to idle for a split second, then jumped right back up again. The KS( Knock sensor) is bad. I soldered it up but I'm still getting the code. This my b16a2 running a integra type r ecu and the intake manfold is a tsunami. If it matters it's in a 98 civic ex. any help be great

It seems like there would need to be either a really big vacum leak or the throttle plate is stuck open for some reason. That is really high rpm for not touching the gas.

If the gasket between the manifold and the block was leaking do you think that would happen? Also would the VSS or KS have anything to do with it?

you didnt replace the gasket did you?

YES the gasket between the IM and the block WILL cause that problem. the 2 surfaces need to be completlety clean before the new one is applied. make sure you torque the bolts to the correct spec and in order.

no the VSS or KS will not cause this problem, you probably knocked those plugs loose when changing the manifold.

I did replace the gasket, however I couldn't get all the old gasket off from around the bolts on the block. What do you recomend to get that off? And is there a specific type of gasket glue I should use or that is recomended? Also, before I changed my intake manifold my engine would pop as I reached about 6,000 rpms or so. Do you think the KS would have anything to do with that? It felt just like the rec limiter kicked in but I am running a JDM Integra Type-R comp. so I know the redline is set higher. What could be causing that?

Try using ''gasket remover''

Your idle is probally being caused by the IM gasket.

If so much of a ''hair'' is messed up on that gasket it can cause a vaccum leak.

Does that affect performance at all or is it just a hassle to drive?

You can also get the gasket material off with a razor blade.

I had the same problem with my H22, and yuo NEED to get the gasket off there, it wont run right, and will idle like that. take it back apart, and clean it all up.

Sorry, thats the only answer....

I know you probably already figured it out but, just thought I'd throw in my 2cents.. I learned that if there's a vacuum leak, spray carb cleaner around the intake manifold and throttle body. If idle drops, you found your problem..
