Default Recurring vtec solenoid leak

I would fix this leak and be completely leak free for a few days.

It usually leaks after prolonged beating and high engine bay temps such as after some mountain runs or a track day.

Ive had nearly 5 quarts of oil in this b18c turbo for about 1.5k miles could that be my problem?

Its the spool valve filter not upper vtec solenoid gasket. Im for sure bcuz the car is completely leak free until a hard days drive. My engine bay is real clean its clearly visible where the oil comes from

5 quarts of oil seems like allot for a b18c.....

also try replacing all the gaskets in the solenoid.

The prOblem is fixxed for days. Daaays. I said i changed the gaskets a few times and the leak stops for days. Daaaays. The leak only comes back after beating the car for a straight hour or so.

Plz dont rply again telling me to change gaskets. No offense but thats just not helpful in any way to say that. Thanks tho

What might cause the lower gasket to fail prematurely? Heat? Excessive pressure?

You've already ansered your question/ problem. If you put new gaskets on, clearely its not the gaskets. Your vtec solenoid is more than likely warped, or over torqued/ under torqued. I see it all the time at work.

Hmm ok ill check with a straightedge. I believe the torque specs to be 7.5lbs and the prev owner had it much tighter than this.

Still doesnt explain why it only leaks after hard driving

I had the same issue with leaking until I used some hondabond/ grey gasket sealer with the gasket. Just a thin layer across the whole sealing surface works fine. They probably just get warped from the years of heat and being torqued down

The gasket tears at the corners of the filter. I guess even with proper torque specs a warped surface will put uneven stresses on different areas. I changed the gasket again and put some red gasket stuff. Did an oil change with a small flush and filled with a bit less than 4.5 quarts. Somethin like 4 and a quarter. Thanks for the input guys, gotta solve little stuff like this before i can go bigger anywhere else

Hey man, if you haven't fixed it yet i would suggest you check your cam seals. I have the same problem, I thought it was the vtec seal so i replaced it and it was fine for a while they the leak came back. After looking closely i found my cam seal behind the vtec solenoid was leaking.

<always wonders why people are removing spool solenoids.

i've never seen one go bad.

i have, however, seen many changed out because ray charles wired the car.
