Real 98 JDM ITR?...Please help
My friend just got a motor in and we were wondering if anyone can verify that it's real with the following info.....
Head is marked pr3-3.....
Block is marked B18C in the front and on the back near the tranny there is a
mark that says "P-72" with "1-1" below it (the p72 mark is what's bothering
us)...
There is a Type R intake manifold and a jdm 4 to 1 header but those are easy
to bolt on.....
The tranny stamp is missing, guess I'm gonna count the teeth to see if there
really is a 4.785 final drive unless someone knows another way to check the
tranny if the barcode is missing near where the block says b18c.....
Also can someone verify that the 4.785 final drive has 67 teeth?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

i think p72 is the code for type-r parts. i'm not positive, but i wouldn't let it scare me. as far as counting out your final drive, count the number of teeth on the differential ring gear and divide it by the number of teeth on the pinion (the gear on the mainshaft that splines with the ring gear). whatever number you come up with is your final drive. that's the easiest way to find out for sure.

type R parts are marked
P73
but like you said your head says p30 is a b16a head you could confuse the
intake with a type R.
as well as the tranny will have a LSD black stamp on it if its type R
