I have a 2007 Honda Fit with brake and ABS light on indicating an ABS error and ABS does not engage.

Does anyone know how to read ABS codes without a trip to the dealer? I've found resources online about connecting pins 4 & 9 on the OBDII port to have the ABS light flash the corresponding error code. However, when I do this I get no response from the ABS light. I do get some odd numbers on the mileage indicator but I have no idea what they mean.
