i just installed a header on my car yesturday..honda gave me the wrong freaking donut gasket. i had to use my old donut gasket, now it is leaking air where the donut gasket is. i put a new exhaust manifold gasket yesturday, the one bettwen the header and block. i will be putting a new donut gasket in the next couple of days. do i have to buy a new exhaust manifold gasket again? even thought i just put in a new one yesturday or can i still reuse it?

 

You should be able to change the donut gasket (the inlet to the cat) without taking the header off. The hangers for the exhaust pipe have enough motion. There's 2 rubber hangers alongside the pipe, maybe a foot behind the cat. You might wanna unhook those to give you more room, then just push the whole exhaust system back enough to take the donut out.

But even if you have to take the manifold off the head, you'll probably be OK to reuse that gasket.

 

cool, thanks..i never thought about unhooking the hangers and moving the exhaust back to do it. that would probably save me a lot of time. thanks.

 

I should have said, make sure the car's sitting real solid on some ramps or stands. You'll have to push kinda hard to get it to move far enough. Don't drop the car on yourself...

 

I've re-used the exhaust manifold gasket on a few of my Honda's. I never ran into a leak. I never re-used it more than 3 times though to be on the safe side

 

i have reused mine like 10 times and have yet to have a leak

 

I've reused mine at least twice and it's fine.
