Default Radiator Modification

I'm thinking of purchasing these radiator guards (1st pic). The OEM setup has plastic louvers at an angle (2nd pic) which help prevent dirt/debris from getting to the radiators and damaging the fins. I'm thinking of adding vertical aluminum strips to mimick the plastic stock louvers. Is this a bad idea, and why if so?

ummm, yeah. wrong section? lol, thats for a dirtbike, not a car. though I see in your sig you have a yami. I used to race motocross actually, so I can comment...

the oem plastic flows better and protects from dirt and small debris.
the metal cages flow less and protects from large debris, but not so much for small debris.
